Course Overview

Learn to look at a piece of written music and sing it accurately — with no instrument to lean on. This course builds sight-singing from the ground up, combining the movable-do solfège system, rhythmic training, and music-reading skills into one clear, step-by-step path. Whether you sing in a choir, study music formally, or simply want to read melodies with confidence, you’ll develop the “inner ear” that turns notation into sound.

Every concept is reinforced with guided exercises, call-and-response drills, and progressively challenging melodies, so you’re always practicing the skill you just learned.

What You’ll Learn

• Read the treble and bass staff, clefs, key signatures, and accidentals fluently
• Sing the movable-do solfège scale (Do–Re–Mi) and hand signs with confidence
• Recognize and sing intervals accurately, from seconds to octaves

Course Curriculum

Module 1 — Foundations of Reading

The staff, clefs, note names, key signatures, and how written pitch maps to sound.

Module 2 — Introduction to Solfège

The movable-do system, singing the major scale, hand signs, and scale-degree awareness.

Module 3 — Rhythm Fundamentals

Note and rest values, counting systems, time signatures, and clapping/tapping drills.

Module 4 — Intervals & Ear Training

Hearing and singing intervals, stepwise motion, leaps, and interval recognition.

Module 5 — Putting It Together

Combining pitch and rhythm to sight-sing complete melodies with growing difficulty.

Module 6 — Advancing Your Skills

Chromatic notes, minor keys, compound meters, and simple modulation.
